Ongoing Support of Junior-Level Professionals Fosters Next Generation of Industry Talent

EAST RUTHERFORD and ISELIN, N.J., April 20, 2018 – Three new hires and an internal transition reflect Cushman & Wakefield’s ongoing commitment to fostering New Jersey’s next generation of professional talent. The commercial real estate services firm has announced the additions of associates Stephen Shoemaker and Joseph Vacca to its Iselin-based industrial and office brokerage teams, the addition of financial analyst Mark Phillips to its East Rutherford-based capital markets team, and the transition of Colin Farawell, associate, from its Research Services group to a brokerage role in East Rutherford.

Shoemaker, a resident of New Brunswick, N.J., is specializing in industrial brokerage. His team, headed by Chuck Fern, focuses on providing strategic real estate advisory services to industrial tenants and landlords in the Central New Jersey region. Previously, Shoemaker worked as a financial analyst at Realterm Global, and interned at Boston Properties, Urstadt Biddle Properties and Tangoe International. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Yale University.

Vacca, who lives in Neptune, N.J., is working as an office leasing specialist with Paul Giannone, Kevin Carton and Todd Elfand. In that role, he is responsible for providing support to current and potential tenant and landlord clients in Central New Jersey. Before joining Cushman & Wakefield, he worked at Stryker Orthopaedics as a sales representative and subsequently as a field marketing manager. Vacca is a graduate of Virginia Tech.

Phillips, a resident of Montclair, N.J., has been working as an intern in the firm’s capital markets group since November and was recently hired into the full-time ranks of this industry-leading team. Working under partners Andy Merin, David Bernhaut, Gary Gabriel and Brian Whitmer, he joins a team of 15 professionals who completed more than $2.5 billion in investment sales transactions last year alone. Phillips graduated from the University of Vermont, where he majored in finance.

Farawell, a resident of Verona, N.J., joined Cushman & Wakefield as an analyst in the firm’s Research Services group last summer. He recently transitioned to office brokerage as a member of the Tenant Advisory Group team with James Frank, Dan Johnsen and Scott Schubert. In his new role, he will support the team’s tenant representation and national account management efforts. Farawell graduated from Bucknell University, where he majored in economics.

“We have always taken pride in attracting the best and brightest talent to our New Jersey offices, and Stephen, Joe, Mark and Colin are no exception,” noted Cushman & Wakefield’s Andrew Judd, New Jersey market leader. “Time and again, our junior-level hires cite the ability to work with and learn from top-producing brokers as a key reason in their choice to join Cushman & Wakefield. This mentorship, combined with a formal learning and development program, the resources of our global platform, and the opportunity to grow – both vertically and horizontally – across our practice areas have established our reputation for challenging, nurturing and supporting professionals as they develop their strengths and pursue their interests.”
