Advancements Span Three Offices, Reflect Deep Scope of Services
EAST RUTHERFORD/MORRISTOWN/ISELIN, N.J., July 13, 2018 – Cushman & Wakefield has announced 15 broker promotions in its three New Jersey offices. The advancements – involving a diverse group of experts – reflect the commercial real estate services firm’s deep scope of services and well-rounded regional team.

Executive Vice Chairman/Vice Chairman
Two East Rutherford-based Cushman & Wakefield investment sales specialists have been named Executive Vice Chairman. Andrew Merin of Fort Lee joined the firm in 1983 and founded its New Jersey investment sales team in 1987. He is an award-winning “rainmaker,” recognized for shaping the firm’s Garden State capital markets practice. David Bernhaut has been with the team for 30 years. A resident of Watchung, he serves as the data-driven force behind his team’s success and a mentor to its thriving incubator of analysts.
Three brokers have been named Vice Chairman. Charles Fern is a senior supply chain expert in Iselin. A Livingston resident, he is a prolific dealmaker and, for the past two years, the firm’s top industrial producer by a large margin. Investment sales specialist Gary Gabriel of Tenafly joined the East Rutherford capital markets team in 1994. He is known among his colleagues for a deeply strategic, client-focused approach to the business. Jules Nissim of West Orange, joined Cushman & Wakefield in 1990. Based in East Rutherford, the industrial specialist is recognized for his tenacity and for developing and nurturing client relationships, and conducting business in a thorough and thoughtful manner.
Executive Managing Director/Managing Director
Brian Whitmer of Denville, an East Rutherford-based investment sales specialist, was named Executive Managing Director. As one of the four principals of the capital markets team, he handles sales of all asset types, with an emphasis on multi-family, retail and land transactions.
Five Cushman & Wakefield brokers were named Managing Director. Iselin-based Jason Barton specializes in sale and leasing of warehousing and distribution facilities. The Hackettstown resident focuses mainly on the Central New Jersey market and has risen quickly through the ranks of the firm. Ben Brenner of New York City represents office landlords and tenants across multiple industries. A member of the firm’s Morristown team, he has been promoted three times in five years. David DeMatteis, based in East Rutherford, is a tenant representation specialist with multiple national portfolio assignments. The Montclair resident joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2001 and has recently been successful for his owner clients on a number of assignments on the Jersey Waterfront. William O’Keefe has negotiated more than eight million square feet of leases during his career. Based in Morristown, the Long Valley resident provides corporate tenants and landlords with consulting, marketing, leasing and strategic planning services. Jon Williams of Morristown represents local and national tenants with their occupancy needs. His areas of expertise include the strategic analysis of alternatives for acquisitions, dispositions, and lease renewals, among other transaction types. He is based in the Morristown office.
Senior Director/Director/Associate Director
Additionally, Allan Greene of Lebanon was named Senior Director. Based in the firm’s Iselin office, the tenant advisory specialist has a 20-year history with Cushman & Wakefield and its predecessor firms. Likewise, Andrew Schwartz of West Orange earned the firm’s Senior Director title. The Morristown-based investment sales broker focuses on middle-markets transactions for local and national clients and accounts.
Earning the title of Director, Jerry Shifrin is based in East Rutherford. The Manhattan resident represents local and regional landlords on a variety of agency leasing assignments, as well as corporate users in their real estate portfolio needs. Finally, Mina Shehata was named Senior Associate. Based in East Rutherford, the Jersey City resident implements corporate real estate strategies for his tenant clients and represents landlords on select agency leasing assignments.
